the slide to home

delay is a coward. if he is going to lose, he should go down with a fight. he was one of the most powerful men in america and there he goes like little bitch with a skinned knee. be a man tom.

i finally have a chance to breath. these projects have totally knocked the wind out of me. neither of my majors have any sort of end thesis or capstone to graduate, but what i've had to experience these last few weeks might as well have been some huge project. i'm sure others have had it worse, but this is right up there with some of the toughest stuff and busiest i've had to go through in college. it's funny how after about an hour of presenting and the second it takes to hand a folder of papers to some dumb professor, it's all over. of course it's not really over though. i still have a research proposal due in another class but that shouldn't be too bad. i'll show up to a few more classes here and there, maybe take a couple exams, and it's all over with. still, there's law school of course, but even that's not certain. my years as an undergrad in this dinky little college is well into the home stretch. actually, sliding into home might be more accurate. tonight kim and i went to this reception/banquet/dinner/awards ceremony for me. sorry, i don't really know what to call it. basically i got a gold star from the school of business. they had really good carrot cake. oh, and the chicken was so tender. mmm. it was a nice gold star. they even put it in a display book for me.

never mentioned that my decision came from university of florida. only six left.

last saturday kim and i went up to slc to see taking back sunday. they rocked really hard. i wish i had been up toward the front where i could break out and rock with them, but i was on wife-duty at the time. just kidding. she's never really been to a show where there was moshing and chaos. somehow though, her and i were always getting stuck about one person back from where the chaos was taking place. we got our fair share of elbows and other people's bodily fluids so she got her taste of rockin out. not sure it was really her thing though. i think her favorite concert will just have to remain the tim mcgraw and faith hill show she went to with her boyfriend jared a few years back. yep, good old jared. this was tbs's second show this tour. the night before they played denver which they said sucked ass compared to slc. they went on about how much slc's energy was just so much more than colorado. nothing against my favorite square state to the right. just had to put that out. a band called facing new york opened and they were actually very, very good. i was totally surprised. next was emanuel who are a little too much for me. they had more energy than most bands i've seen, but it's all just screaming rock to me. there are some similar screaming rock bands that i'm into like the used or hawthorne heights, but those guys have so much more than just yelling and saying eff this and eff that. they played at a place called the venue and it's pretty freaking nice. it too hard to describe so i won't. but it was totally dope. capacity is somewhere between the ogden and fillmore in denver. did you know that the grateful dead and the who have played at the fillmore? and =w=eezer of course. do you know who was first in line? me, yeah, freaking me biotch.

Good Night, and Good Luck (2005): it was like 'all the president's men,' in that it is so well made and it so interesting. and the acting is superb and there is really not much to say negatively about it. except for one thing and that is simply lack of action. it’s all talk, talk, talk. the guy who played murrow was something else though. too bad he wasn't around in like the 50s where he could have really shined. or is it shown? i really didn't understand the point of robert downey jr's character. if anyone has any ideas let me know. i'm sure my inbox is going to be flooded now. i won't buy it because it's nothing i'd want to watch over and over again, but it should defiantly be seen once. on one hand it's hard to believe that clooney directed this because technically it is so well done. shooting black and white is no easy task because of your lighting, but he really does great. you never get bored of the dozen or so times murrow does his show into a tv camera. without the right imagination of a director, that could get very boring, very fast. i suppose much of it also has to do with the cinematographer, but i like clooney so i'll give him the credit. see it.

last week was one of the best episodes of fear factor ever. it was fear factor: best friends. this one pair of chicks sucked so bad. on the first event no one goes home. they all just played for some trucks. but you had to jump into this pool and the one girl simply would not get in. the next one was the usual nasty one and she gave up again before even starting. it was hilarious because joe was ripping her a new one for being what he said was the worst player of all time on fear factor. it was so funny. then there were these homo best friends who weren't really homo but i'm calling them homo cuz that's the way they were acting. not as funny as the chick, but overall, a great show. their nasty event was one blindfolded person put as many live leeches in their mouth, then transferred them through a little hole in to their teammate's mouth on the other side, who filled up a bowl full. the second highest amount that a team got in the bowl was like 68 leeches. first place was about 250. it was the homo guys. it was amazing. it was also one of the highlights of last week.

p.s. tonight will be 01:02:03 04/05/06.
